Medstrom Promotes Continuity of Care at OT Show Exhibition

Between the 24th and 25th November, Medstrom will be exhibiting at the UK’s leading education and trade event for Occupational Therapists, The OT Show.

The event, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham, serves as a platform for sharing the most up-to-date information and resources for Occupational Therapists. For Medstrom, this includes discussing the patient’s pathway from hospital to home and the importance of maintaining continuity of care along that journey.

Within the hospital environment the focus is placed firmly on early mobilisation. By equipping caregivers and patients with the most appropriate equipment it can help to minimise length of stay and improve overall clinical outcomes. Meanwhile, for patients returning home, emphasising enablement and person-centred care ensures dignity and independence are equally preserved.

Medstrom is also proud to have its ROSPA-certified clinical advisors and specialists present during the exhibition. Clair Sharpe, Medstrom Bariatric Product Specialist, has recently passed the ROSPA Level 4 People Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer course. She works closely with caregivers to ensure that continuity of care is promoted within the patient’s journey. Clair notes:

“This role brings me to the heart of everyday people who have complex needs. Many want to get well and return home from hospital.

“Others are determined to carry on living in their home. Whether in hospital or at home, I love seeing the positive difference we make to people’s lives every day.”

During the exhibition, Medstrom will also be running a competition for the chance to win copies of the 7th edition of The Guide to the Handling of People (HOP7). The latest edition of the HOP series remains an essential document for all those involved with delivering safe care, mobilisation, positioning or rehabilitation. Especially for staff working across the health and social care services, and others who may be involved directly or indirectly with the moving and handling of people.
