In modern healthcare, no two patients are the same—so why should their care be?
Individualised Care for Complex Patients is an insightful in‑person educational event designed to explore what it really means to deliver personalised and safe care in today’s challenging clinical environment.
What is covered?
Combining perspectives from a leading researcher, an experienced clinician, and a patient with lived experience, the morning sessions will unpack the realities of supporting individuals whose needs fall outside traditional care pathways. Together, our speakers will examine the clinical, holistic, and equipment considerations required to effectively tailor treatment for complex patients.
In the afternoon, attendees will take part in a dedicated two‑hour hands‑on workshop led by Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist Eva Harris, focusing on practical approaches to caring for patients with severe contractures. The workshop will cover practical approaches to supporting patients with contractures both in bed and when seated, focusing on safe positioning, posture, risk reduction and adapting care for complex needs. Attendees will leave with practical skills, greater confidence and a clearer understanding of safe, person‑centred practice.
Meet the speakers:
- Louise Johnson – Consultant Physiotherapist and Principle Researcher at University of Southampton
- Eva Harris – Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist and South West Regional Wound Care Lead, Specialising in Patients with Contractures
- Tilly Rose – Patient Advocate, Speaker and Author Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and multiple vascular compressions
Key objectives:

- How can we effectively deliver individualised care for patients with severe contractures?
- How can multidisciplinary teams work together to better address the needs of complex patients?
- How can we apply practical, hands‑on approaches to safely supporting patients with contractures across bed‑based and seated care?
